Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em Review

Photo from official tour website

Based on the 1970s classic TV comedy, some mothers do ‘Ave ‘em makes its rounds on the 2022 UK tour after a huge success in 2018.

From DIY disasters and other hilarious mishaps quite literally brings the Spencer’s house down.

Sweet and accident-prone Frank Spencer receives exciting news about his dream of becoming a magician could be real. Betty his wife has wonderful news of her own but crossed wires and a dastard dinner party full of misunderstanding is what is being served for dinner. This show is quite Frank-ly, it’s a hit!

The show is just under 2 hours including interval.

Cast & crew

The cast of this show is made up of a small group of actors.

Frank Spencer is played by Joe Pasquale (New Faces, I’m A Celebrity, Spamalot, The Producers).

Betty Spencer is played by Sarah Earnshaw.

The disapproving mother-in-law is played by Susie Blake (Coronation Street, The Victoria Wood Show, Blithe Spirit).

Mr Worthington/Mr Luscombe is played by Moray Treadwell (Eastenders, Manchild, My Family, Murder Most Horrid, Beck)

Father O’Hara is played by James Paterson (stared in the original production of The Phantom Of The Opera, TV credits include London’s Burning, Close To Home and Birds Of A Feather).

Desmond/PC and Cover Frank Spencer is played by Ben Watson (In The Mix dir: Denis Lawson;

Heroes and Villains; Ten Minutes; Derek’s Thoughts and regularly performs his own solo comedy show The History of Everything in 60 minutes).

Final thoughts

Overall, I did enjoy the show preferring the second act. It is a great addition to the 1970s hit tv show.

Some Mothers do ‘ave ’em is playing at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury until Saturday 9th July. For tickets and information click here. For information about future touring venues click here.
