We are all aware of the story and remember the rhyme but now the UK’s most daring plot has returned.
What is the gunpowder plot?
Back in 1605, a group of Roman Catholics were caught in the act of trying to blow up the Houses of Parliament. Guy Fawkes was the head of the plot and it was his intent to cause chaos and mayhem in London. He tried to blow up the King and Parliament by placing barrels of gunpowder in the vaults below to overthrow England. To commemorate this failed assassination attempt, King James marked the 5th of November as a day the country would never forget as he did see no reason why the Gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot.
Over the centuries the celebrations continue and have become more elaborate with firework displays. Effigies of Guy Fawkes, are made and these are traditionally burnt on top of a bonfire on bonfire night.
What is this experience?
The Guy Fawkes gun powder immersive experience has landed at the vaults by the Tower of London for 100 minutes off daring experience. You will need to go on an undercover mission to infiltrate the inner circle and find the safe house. But you must escape the Tower of London first, do you have what it takes to? Can you make the covert journey up the River Thames and get to the Houses of Parliament in time?
While the story is 90% accurate there are slight changes to include your group’s vote which can affect the aftermath. They have done the above to create a more interactive and immersive experience for the participants. The experience uses a combination of live actors and VR to get all five of your senses working. You do not need to know the full story behind the plot so do not worry, all you have to worry about is not getting captured and caught by Protestants! If you and your group work together I am sure you can survive. Some names have been altered but do not fret, there is only one name you can never forget, Guy Fawkes!
VIP, Is it worth the money?
I chose to go down the VIP route as I believed after doing the research it would be worth the money. Depending if you go peak or off-peak will vary the price.

Final thoughts and recommendations
Is it worth Fawkes-ing out for? Yes! The cast and the people behind the scenes are amazing and will help you if needed. This experience was that good I am coming back!
Recommendations
- – Wear suitable shoes (how else are you going to escape the Tower of London?!)
- ⁃ Arrive around 30mins before hand to get settled in
- – If you go VIP, you’ll be given a little coin token for a drink, make sure you take it with you
- ⁃ If you have food, I recommend having it after the experience.
