Being a carer is something I have never asked to be or wanted but it is the life I have been given. Since I can remember, I have always been a part of a disabled household. My mother became ill when she was pregnant with me after catching a virus that made her paralysed. She relearnt to walk again but still has reduced mobility and is now in a wheelchair. I have had amazing opportunities that I am grateful for, however, if I had to pick, I would like to have a normal life. There is so much that myself and mum would love to experience but, unfortunately not everything in the 21 century, is disabled friendly.
